Hammered Silver's first race

Hammered Silver had the first race if his career last Friday at Lingfield. He was very well behaved on his first outing apart from the few bucks around the parade ring (playful rather than malicious). Once on the course he acquitted himself very well. He went into the stalls well, jumped out on terms and settled in the pack a couple of lengths off the pace. He was a bit green when they kicked on and he got left behind but stayed in up the straight. We were very pleased with his effort and we will look for a similar race for him when he is ready.

Flooded!

The photograph shows our gallops on Friday morning following a night of torrential rain. It is the first time the gallops have been under water. The photo shows about a furlong where the water has run off the field and hasn't been able to drain away. Fortunately the Gallup was okay on Saturday morning apart from a couple of soft patches which meant it was unsafe to use. It is a very frustrating period with all of the rain but safety is our prime concern and hopefully we will be back to normal next week. With the gallop out of action we have been using the arena to exercise the horses and although it is an Olympic size (60m x40m) we can only trot the horses.

Daneglow 3rd

Daneglow recorded another placed effort on Wolverhampton on Monday afternoon when she was third. She had a poor draw again and while we believe these things level out over the longer term there is no doubt Daneglow has been very unlucky when it comes to the draw. From her stall position 9 she was held up and she made progress from the 2f marker but she was never going to catch the leader but stayed on to take the third spot on the line. We were pleased again with her effort and we will step her up in trip now she is settling well in her races.
